Huddersfield Town sign Umbro Kit Deal

E-mail

Huddersfield Town umbroHuddersfield Town announced a new four year deal that will see British sports brand Umbro supply the Club with home and away kits, training and benchwear from the start of the 2011/12 season.

The announcement was made at Huddersfield Town's home fixture against Peterborough United on Saturday, with a number of mysterious videos on the Stadium's Big Screen - which also featured on the Club's official YouTube account - culminating in the reveal of an Umbro kit bag in the first team's changing room. The design and style of the Terriers new 2011/12 kits is being kept under wraps, with the unveil of the home shirt planned for the Club's home fixture against Brentford on 7 May.

"We are absolutely delighted to welcome Umbro and Just Sport into the Huddersfield Town family for the start of the new season," Jarvis explained.

"We had a large number of kit suppliers offer their services to us for the start of next season. The entire selection process has taken over 12 months and in that time we met with around 15 kit manufacturers, ranging from some small to very big brands; seeking references and investigating sales.

"We felt that Umbro's reputation for quality will add real credence to our retail kit offerings going into next season. Their association with the England national side particularly appealed to us and their brand values very much fit our own; they have a strong, proud heritage much like ourselves and they are proud of being British.

"Together we have worked very hard on the design and feel of next season's kits and I am confident that our supporters will be very happy with the new shirts, training wear and bench wear for the 2011/12 season.

"We cannot wait to get started and cultivate what promises to be a very exciting partnership for Huddersfield Town."

Martin Prothero, Senior Vice President of Football at Umbro, added:

"We are delighted to support Just Sport's new partnership with Huddersfield Town FC to be the club's official retail partner. We wish the Terriers every success in their quest for promotion to the Championship."

Thanks to Dave

Should be a good deal, Mitre are losing their touch.

You just hope, for Huddersfield's sake that they don't use a crap template, but Umbro don't tend to do that. It'll be good to see what they do.

This article is very misleading, they have signed a deal with Just Sports, not Umbro. Huddersfield will just get a Umbro teamwear kit, just like the other lower league teams with Nike kit.

It's a Terrier, they are called 'The Terriers'. From Yorkshire, and you guessed it, it's a Yorkshire Terrier.

Fool.

I always feared this... as a lifelong Town fan I've seen other teams come and go with 'big name' kit suppliers - only to find they are adapted templates through small 3rd party outfits who pay the 'big brand' for the right to use the logo and templates. For example, Donnie Rovers with 'Nike'

Town have always had their own kits designed, never had a template thus retaining our identity. Hell, even a current premiership team shares a template with a Championship team and League 1 team. I was glad to see Ipswich with a new Mitre kit (a bespoke design) and hoped we would stick with Mitre. Who the hell are 'Just Sports' anyway ?! Sean Jarvis you've bviously taken a back-hander for this you commercial kop-out - p!$$ off

Of course, I will retract all the above if we do have our own bespoke 'tailored' design - I'll reserve further judgement until 07-May

This should be interesting as well as positive. Umbro have now proven to be a manufacturer that mostly never fails to dissapoint due to their uniqueness. Just glad that Huddersfield didnt go for the generic Nike or generic Puma...or generic Adidas. Of course im all for the smaller kit manufacturers to step up but Mitre have abit lost their touch with their design concepts.

It'll be a boring bog standard Umbro teamwear template. Which is a shame as Huddersfield are a historically very big club!

oh dear - just seen the 'teaser' video that was shown at the town/p'boro game on saturday - the 'kitbag dropped in 1st team changing room' reveal uses the old 'thinner' Umbro logo instead of the new 'old-fashioned' chunkier logo (fatter diamond from top to bottom) - this leads me to think it WONT be a tailored shirt/kit... rubbish !!

there's a nice fan design submitted on the 'fantasy' pages of this site, would be happy with that, nice n simple

Being a Lincoln City supporter I can safely say that Huddersfield will be in good hands with Umbro.
We have had a completely different "tailored by umbro" template for our home shirt to any other club and our training wear has always been the current design with our own colours.
I admit that our away and 3rd kit is standard teamwear that is available on the website, but we are league 2 so we won't complain.

It's got to be a classic kit - centenary kit was just that. Blue/white stripes, WHITE shorts, black socks. Like I said, CLASSIC!! Just what we need for playing in the Championship.
