STAY WITH LE COQ!

UMBRO IS AWFUL! BLAND DESIGNS! At least Le Coq is different, they have good designs, and the material is great.

This new deal surprise me. Because 3 years ago Man City wears Reebok, 2 years with Le Coq Sportif and the next season with Umbro.

You luck son of a guns!
As a fan of a team that has the manufacturer some people like to call Le Coq Sportif, or as i like to call it...SHIT! anything is an improvement so all i can say is that i am extremely jealous! They wont have shirts made that aweful aweful standard for at least one season, and i have to admit that this is one wish i make for my team that hopefully will happen one day but i don\'t think it will happen for a long long time.

Clearly all to do with money. Let\'s be honest Man City are now too high profile due to the Sheik\'s money for Le Coq. So Umbro must be paying them so much that they can afford to pay off the Le Coq contract and still be making more money.

For those non Man City fans have a look at some of the \'interesting\' designs that appeared the last time these 2 joined up (in particular the 96-97 away):

Seems strange, if Man City are really going to be one of the top 4 sides in the premier league (which has to be their ambition) surely they would have to be affiliated to Nike? Or maybe Adidas. Umbro have a huge portfolio of clubs going right down through the football league and have no \'quality control\' to manage a premium, elite image in the same way that Nike do. Puma would have been a contender as City fit their experimental, luxury and fashionable brand.

Like Nike \"manage their premium, elite image\" with Fulham, Crystal Palace, Rochdale, Southend, MK Dons and recently the likes of Scarbrough, Rotherham and Walsall, you mean?

And how Adidas do the same with Derby County, Macclefield Town and Peterborough United?

Why the creeping elitist snobbery with football kits and their manufacturers on here nowadays?

Umbro used to be a Manchester company and it is traditional that they make City\'s shirts. Quite probably they will be designed with the same templates as Umbro\'s other teams but they can\'t be half as bad as that shocking asymmetric orange nightmare of athird kit Le Coq produced last year. The home kit was bad too, as was the \"carbonated\" striped away kit.

Wasn\'t Gary Cook employed by Nike before coming to City?

So I would imagine that is tour answer.

:cheer: This would be a great move. Umbro have produced some of our best ever kits and with Nike behind them it all bodes well. Let\'s see the new England kit this will give us an idea of our kit.

HAHAHAHAHAHA HOOO HOOOO HERE HERE HAR HAR LOL!!!!!!!!1!!!!1!!!! Original and absolutely hilarious. Well done!

On topic, I think this move is bittersweet. I do hate the current Man City shirts, but I loved all three of last year\'s shirts. I also love the £30 price tag, and I am cautious about the supposed £50 asking price for the forthcoming England shirt. If the new City shirt is to be £50, it has better be the best City shirt ever.

Umbro is owned by Nike. To me Nike appears as an American brand, which it is. Umbro on the other hand appears to be English, even though it is owned by the americans.

What I am trying to say is i think that the whole point in them having Umbro is so they dont appear to lose touch with what they really are an English football team. Yes they are owned by a Sheik and are targeting nationalities from all over the globe, but I feel this is more a psychological decision than financial.

And in the long run, if or when they get into the Champions League and really want to state claim to being the best football team in the world then Nike still have the option to do an Umbro to Nike kit manufacturer swap, similar to what Adidas did with Liverpool when they bought Reebok.

I think the big deal fir this is that now Man City have a chance to sell around the world a bit better. Le Coq still is not sold in major markets like the USA.

I don\'t know why so many City fans love Le Coq Sportif, the shirts might look good from a distance but actually they are sh1te, the material and construction of the shirts is really poor. Umbro make nice shirts, that\'s a fact. If this rumor is true, I\'d be chuffed to bits to have Umbro as our sponsor. And get this fact fans.....did you know that the first club shirt that Umbro produced was for Man City? There you go.

it is 100% true, city\'s shirts will be made by umbro next season etihad airways bein the sponsor on the shirt.
why umbro i\'m not really sure but could have something to do with Gary Cook the Executive Chairman working for nike for the past 25 yrs and Nike now owning Umbro?!
Hopefully they will run out the contract this time instead of only keeping le coq sportif for 2 of the 5 yrs of their contract.
Sorry to tell u tho but the shirts will be £45 for adults and £35 for kids! Bad times for the fans but they will be better quality shirts. Can\'t see city doin a deal with umbro where they have the rights to be able to sell the shirts cheaper than anywhere else tho like they did with le coq sportif with prices like them?!
