northern ireland adidas kit deal

Adidas has announced the signing of a long term Kit Partnership with the Irish Football Association which will come into effect from August this year.

The news of the partnership will spark fond memories of the previous partnership and on pitch successes of the late 70’s and 80’s.

The partnership will give adidas the rights to supply kit to all of the international teams, referees in the top 3 leagues in Northern Ireland as well as supplying balls for all Irish League matches and kits for the Association’s coaching department.

Irish FA Chief Executive Patrick Nelson said: “adidas was synonymous with the Association during our most successful period ever and I’m sure our supporters will be absolutely delighted with the news that we are to be reunited with them.  This is the 30th anniversary of our game against Spain in the 1982 World Cup and playing in that iconic adidas shirt.”

Geoff Wilson, Irish FA Head of Marketing and Communications added: “This is an exciting partnership for the Association as it covers all aspects of our business – from International to Domestic to the Grassroots strands of our game.  The adidas brand will bring many great benefits and is a great example of the calibre of partners that we are now attracting and working with.”

Steve Holland, National Sales Manager, Commercial Football Partnerships said: “It’s great to partner with the Irish FA once again after nearly 30 years. The Irish FA has some bold and ambitious plans including the redevelopment of Windsor Park and it is an exciting time to be associated with all levels of football in Northern Ireland.”

The new kits and training wear will be available from August 2012 and will feature adidas ClimaCool™ technology, a mixture of heat and moisture controlling materials, ventilation channels and 3D fabrics which improve air flow to the skin in the key heat zones.

Thanks to Stephen

If the North Ireland kits follows the same "wave" of the Euro teams sponsored by Adidas, I think good things may come from this agreement.

No, there's actually two,one is Northern Ireland and the other is the Republic of Ireland.I thought this was common knowledge.

Six Counties is not a Country and should not be recognised by FIFA.

That's why they call it Northern Ireland and not Ulster.

I'd be totally up for unifying the teams like the Rugby team has done (very successfully), but being obstinate doesn't help.

Also, remember the IFA existed first, before independence, and represented the whole island. After independence the FAI was formed and competed.

Full Disclosure — No I'm not from Norn Iron, I'm from the RoI, but extremism is tiresome. Also the FAI, unlike the IFA, don't win any affection from me for dumping a sponsor logo on a national kit but that's a different story

There already is an all Ireland inclusive team. But my point is if FIFA don't recognise Palestine or Tibet why do they support this illegal "Country". Plus a Nation needs it's own anthem not a stolen one off the English, which I'm sure they are even embarrassed about, nobody in the real Britain even know or care about the six Counties. And I'm far from extremist, I don't send Bullets in the post.

To the "idiot" below will you "get over it" when there is a referendum? I'm not trying to be bitter here just can't understand why IRISHMEN decide to lick Britain ass all the time, get over it there is no empire anymore!
ONE TEAM FOR IRELAND! ONE LEAGUE FOR IRELAND

Will you get over it when there's a referendum and it doesn't turn out the way you want? Dont forget... there's statistically more proud British Subjects in Northern Ireland than those who want a United Ireland. Besides, what is your problem if we want to support our local team anyway? Who made you Judge & Jury? If you don't support Northern Ireland then that's fair enough but don't go ramming your views down our throats. It's you that's getting on like a facist. Once again learn your football history. The IFA was for the whole of Ireland until those below the border got their knickers in a twist and wanted to break away. Now you want it back the way it was. Well you can stick that idea right up your jacksey.

The only reason you's are a majority is because the border was outlined to suit you's, so you could veto the nationalists.

How is it sectarian? I don't care what religion anybody is. How is it racist? you are most likely the same race as me European white. and the ROI support don't have links to combat 18, NF and other RACIST organisations. we don't chant about being up to our necks in Fenian blood. and we sure as hell don't send bullets to know catholics just because they are that. and I'm not anti British, I'm anti Irish trying to be British.

Dont try and tell us what we are. If your Passport and your heritage tells you that your Irish if you feel that then my Passort and heritage equally tells me im British if I feel that and a UK citizen. How dare you mock who we are, you bigot! Our Scottish ancestral history means we don't have to pretend to be of British blood - it means it's a proven fact.

Fair enough if your proud of your scottish heritage, i like the scots english and welsh, and im sure i have some of that blood in me too, but this is Ireland. All im saying is that there should be one team, we'd have a better chance at tournaments and a far better league. Btw i think the FAI are scumbags aswell. What would it take to get things right? new flag? anthem? just like the ruggers.

From someone south of the border, I'm looking forward to seeing what the North get. It's bound to be a thousand times more tasteful than the shite the Republic get with Umbro. Having said that, I do think the blue and white Umbro away jersey a few years back was quite possibly the best jersey Umbro made for a team either north or south of the border.
