Spanish league club Sevilla have agreed a two-year shirt sponsorship deal with Asian online gaming company 12BET.

12BET.com is operated by Pacific Sea Invests SA, a remote gambling operator licensed in the Philippines, that offers sports betting products and services to European and Asian markets.

"We are enthusiastic about working with 12BET to accelerate the international development of our club," Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido was quoted as saying.

Sevilla, who won back-to-back UEFA Cups in 2006 and 2007, said their new sponsor would also be working on a number of other commercial projects with the club.

"We are investing a lot into the development of the 12BET brand and had been looking for a partner in the world of football for a long time," 12BET's director general Andrea Hector was quoted as saying.

"Sevilla had an excellent season last year qualifying directly for the Champions League group stages. We see this as an excellent opportunity to boost the international development of both brands."

Gambling companies are by far the most common sponsor in the Premier League with Bolton, Sunderland, West Ham, Wigan, Wolves and Hull having betting sponsers

I remember before AIG Man Utd rejected an offer from a gambling company. I think Liverpool if they havent already chosen their next shirt sponsor will go for someone like Bwin.

yeh..man u rejected an offer from Mansion.com (who sponsor spurs) as they didnt want to be associated with gambling, althouhg, browsing on thier site one day an advertisement was flashing on the side of my screen for Man U Casino...

...also, Sevilla were sponsored by 888.com a couple of years previous, which is also a gambling site, these are the type of sponsors that can give clubs the most money in these times.
