Sheffield United have signed a lucrative seven figure, four year deal with Italian sportswear manufacturer and designer Macron.

And the new 09/10 kit and leisurewear supplier today revealed a prototype of next season's home shirt plus images of a special edition third shirt, which marks the anniversary of the 120th anniversary of the birth of the club and is free to renewing season ticket holders.

New Italian loan signing Arturo Lupoli was on hand to model the prototype home shirt which United say is work in progress.

Macron, who become the club's technical partners, offer expertise to a range of sports and football clubs on a worldwide basis.

In Italy they are the official supplier to top flight teams Bologna and Cagliari, whilst in Portugal Boavista and Sporting Braga wear the brand. In the UK, Macron has a kit deal with League One Leeds United.

United's Chief Executive Jason Rockett said: "We are delighted to be working with Macron, a forward thinking company which places great importance on design and quality. They are well established in mainland Europe and clearly intend to be a force in the UK.

"Financially this is an excellent deal for United and is the successful outcome of long-term negotiations. The partnership with Macron is in line with our continued strategy of driving our off-the-field revenue streams."

Macron's Chief Executive Officer Gianluca Pavanello commented: "Macron is delighted to be working with Sheffield United one of the best known names in English football and from the city which gave birth to the game.

"We were impressed by the club's commitment to developing grassroots football and community initiatives, which mirror our own company beliefs. The opportunity to further our brand in line with Sheffield United's international partners in China, Australia and Hungary is also very exciting."

United have been working closely with Macron on the designs for next season's home and away kits. Macron helped the club develop itsunique special edition third kit to mark the 120th anniversary of the birth of the Blades which will see the names of every player to represent United woven into the fabric.

Ha - they might as well have gone for Makro.

There\'ll be option to sue West Ham for this, chaps. Think carefully.

As for all you West Ham ****s, Sheffield United had EVERY RIGHT to sue. I\'m saying this and I\'m not even a Sheff Utd supporter.

If your team got relegated because of some player (Tevez) that arrived at West Ham illegally or controversially I would sue and do everything in power as well! Just like Sheffield United.

But Sheffield United didn\'t get relegated because of Tevez - they got relegated because they were ****e and didn\'t win enough games. They had every chance to stay up - all they had to do was beat Wigan on the last day. Before that they missed two penalties in one game against Blackburn that would have done the trick.

Tevez only came good for West Ham in the last third of the season; he didn\'t score a goal for them until March! Sheffield United are to blame for their relagation, but they simply won\'t admit fault.

So it was West Ham\'s fault that Sheffield United couldn\'t gain enough points over the course of 38 games and only score 8 goals away from home all season?

Poor old Le Coq Sportif missing out on those Northern Giants Sheff Utd to MACRON they must be gutted or wanted out anyway. Do you think any of the major companies pitched in for Sheff Utd. MACRON got kicked out by Swansea and went to Leeds who have no intention of paying their bill . It smacks of a desperate need to get noticed by MACROn who have clearly offered a mad deal..shirt looks ok though and I\'d like to see the 3rd shirt which is a great offer to season ticket holders so fair play to them.

I\'m a leeds fan and our macron kits are pretty good. Probabley the best in terms of quality and detail since we hadnike.

I\'d never heard of them before but i\'ve been quite impressed and our deal was apparantly the biggest outside the premiership at the time.

At the end of the day the most important thing is your club getting the most cash out of the deal.

Macron are not the worst company around (please see anything by Legea or vandanell) but they are by no means the best.
I note that they are carefull to say that this is a prototype, so you would hope that they improve the the cut, especially under the sleeves.
I have to agree with Roginho that the idea of giving away an anniversary shirt to season ticket holders is a nice idea. I really like Sheffield (as a city) and United in particular, so I hope this deal turns out well for them, but BEWARE blades fans Macron are renowned for their TOTAL LACK of efficiency when it comes to servicing their pro contracts.
GOOD LUCK

Well put, Hawk Thunder. I\'m surprised they haven\'t tried sueing that butterfly in Tokyo which flapped its wings too. Or their parents. I despise that club now. Bad losers.

IF WET SHAM DID NOTHING WRONG WHY OH DID THEY COUGH UP ON A SETTLEMENT?
IN MY OPINION PAYING UP ADMITS TO THE GUILT.

WHo had more points-west ham or shef utd? WE HAD THE SAME. we went down by one goal. They stayed up by one goal. from teves . who was illegally playing at that point. and we knew he was ilegally playing. he was allowed to contiue playing and he saved them from relegation. We should have both gone down. But as it stands west ham get millions for staying up and we don\'t so boo hoo for having to give us a little money.

That must be why we got paid out then!

Because Tevez was **** and didn\'t help them stay up.

Did Crystal Palace get deducted 1pt other day because they fielded an ilegible player... Yes! If West Ham had been deducted some points maybe we\'d have stayed up.

But NO... Trevor Brooking works for the FA!

Who would have thought West Ham would end up getting on Macron\'s client list. Quite funny looking back at the old post though.
