darlington the Morritt

The Morritt Arms Hotel has won the right to be Darlington's shirt sponsor for the 2010-11 season.

The prestigious hotel was drawn out of the hat at a draw, with seven companies entering the £5k competition.

The historic Morritt Hotel, at Gretna Bridge in Teesdale, is run by Barbara Johnson and her husband Peter Phillips, who are keen football fans.

"Sport is part of the lifeblood of a town and now's the time to give it our support and encouragement," said Peter.

"Supporting the club was first and foremost but winning the shirt sponsor is a real bonus for us and naturally we're delighted."

Barbara added: "We believe in supporting all things local to our area - food, charities businesses and organisations.

"We're delighted to be part of what is an essential part of Darlington's sporting landscape."

Quakers chairman Singh said: "Our dinner on Friday night marked the end of our 'Business Backing Darlington Club' campaign to try and get as many local companies as possible to get involved with the club.

"We're delighted with the support we've received from the local business community - not just with this campaign but on all corporate sides of the club - and it we were delighted for the Morritt Arms Hotel, who won the right to be shirt sponsor for the 2010-11 season.

Interesting news for a website followed by hundreds of people worldwide
Why don't you also write about future sponsor prospects for Cerrito Montevideo or the Dynamos Harare new kit supplier for the 2010/2011 season?

If you think those teams are important, get the information, send it to the site and they publish it.
How the hell did you think this site worked anyway?

OK, so not the most high profile sponsor in the world, but at least it looks decent on the shirt, unlike a lot of these BET.COM, 888, BETSURE, etc.

Yes, it looks good on a good shirt like this one, but... is it me or the sponsor is not centered ??

It is centred, it's just the the word "The" is side ways and hard to see.

Cboy ....c obviously stands for C~NT . Why would you be proud of having Macron supply your kit they are so non league !
Or are they the only ones stupid enough to give kit to someone who can't pay their bills???

5 thousand pounds? That's what it costs to sponsor Darlington? Holy crap.

I really like the jersey design, btw. Compare to Udinese and well, Udinese look terrible by comparison.
