Burnley errea away 125th Anniversary football kit 07/08

Burnley revealed the away kit to be worn for the 2007/08 Championship season. Complimenting the predominantly claret home shirt and the special 125th anniversary shirt, the Errea-produced away kit sees Burnley return to a white shirt , with claret shorts and claret socks

Mirroring the home kit, the white shirt, again bearing the name of sponsors Holland's Pies on the front and back, is a V-neck design in claret, with gold piping. The piping runs throughout the shirt, accentuating the wide claret side panels and edging flashes of claret and blue that form an integral part of the sleeves.

The 125th anniversary gold club crest sits proudly on the left breast, with 125 embroidery on the left sleeve. Both shirt and shorts are made from a fabric which utilises Active Dry technology, which is at the cutting-edge of research in technical fabrics and aids the rapid evaporation of perspiration, which helps to prevent the body overheating. The shirt, which will retail at GBP 39.99 (adult sizes) and GBP 31.99 (children's and young adults), will go on sale later this summer.

In the early years , various designs and colours were used by the Burnley club. The first kit was a white shirt with white shorts. Other early kits included a dark blue shirt with dark blue shorts, white with a blue sash, light blue and white stripes and claret and amber stripes. For much of the 1890s a combination of black with amber stripes was used, although the club wore a shirt with pink and white stripes during the 1894-95 season.

Between 1897 and 1900 the club used a plain red shirt. From 1900 until 1910 the club changed to an all green shirt with white shorts. In 1910 it was decided to adopt the claret and blue of the football league champions Aston Villa. As history shows, this move had a positive effect.

On March 4, 2007, Burnley's away kit for the 2006/07 season (yellow shirt with claret bar, yellow shorts and yellow socks) won the Best Kit Design award at the Football League Awards at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, England.

On Monday 4th June, 2007 the new home kit for the 2007/08 season was released. It echoes the 1950s shirt; all claret with a blue v-neck and rims on the end of the arms which sport the word 'Burnley'.

It features gold trim and a new gold logo for the 125th anniversary year of the club.

For 2007/08, Burnley have new sponsors 'Holland's' (a local manufacturer of pies and puddings) whose name will feature on the home and away kit for 2 years.

For one match in 2007/08, the team will wear a commemorative 125th anniverary shirt based on their first kit; blue and white stripes with black trim, shorts and socks.
