Gillingham unveil new Vandanel 07/08 Kit

After the Gills fans having their say in a kit vote, option B was the winner of the choice for next season's Gills kit, and it was modelled for the first time by six of the playing squad.

The club also used the event to welcome new sponsors Kent Reliance - whose krbs.com logo appears on the new shirts made by Vandanel - to the club ahead of the start of their sponsorship deal next season.

Vandanel also make the kits for Leyton Orient, Northampton, Port Vale, Tranmere, Boston, Torquay and Wrexham, as well as a handful of non-league teams and four Scottish League sides.

One of their Leyton Orient kits for last season was voted as Best Kit at the 2006 Football League Awards.

Gills chairman Paul Scally said: 'I'm sure you will agree the new shirts look quite stunning, and we are also signing a new deal today with Vandanel, who are our new kit suppliers, and will be for the next three years. I think they have done a magnificent job in coming up with the design for the kit, and we also went online, where fans were in favour of the kit we are launching today.

'I'd like to officially welcome Mike Lazenby and krbs.com, the contract starts on the first of June, it is a three year deal, and we are looking at many different initiatives, mainly working with under 18's on saving plans and other schemes, but specifically with the 0-11 year olds, hoping to put together schemes to bring them into the arena and make them feel part of the football club.

'MHS Homes has done a fantastic job in the three years, but we have been looking to bring Kent Reliance Building Society on board for some time now, and have finally managed to persuade them to get on board.

'It is a contract that is very, very good for the football club, they are very good partners, and they bring with them not just a big customer base across the county and further a field, but also lots of opportunities to work with them on different initiatives, which I think will be very beneficial to us all.'

Lazenby, the managind director of krbs, added: 'This is not just a sponsorship deal for us, this is more of a partnership, and we are looking to have the two big names in Kent working together, to do things both in, and outside of football.

'This has got to be a good thing, so we are delighted to have the opportunity to be the sponsors, it has taken a long time, we have been talking for years and years, and I am delighted we are sat here today, because this is going to be good for Gillingham Football Club and it is going to be good for Kent Reliance.'
