Sunderland 3rd away 07/08 Umbro kit

Sunderland will wear a new all-blue third kit when they take on Galway United in Ireland next week.

In accordance with the club's new Umbro contract, the Black Cats will have a third strip in the event of a clash of both home and away kits in League or cup fixtures. Next season will be the only season when three new strips are unveiled by the club.

In future seasons, the previous year's change kit will become the third strip. The new third kit features a V-necked majestic royal blue shirt with red and white flashes and matching blue shorts and socks. The club has a small supply of the kit for any supporters who want to own it.

They will be able to buy the third strip in official club stores, but are advised that it will be available as a limited edition only.

SAFC marketing and communications Director Lesley Callaghan said:

"In future seasons our third choice option in the event of a clash will always be the previous year's away kit."

"But as our club sponsor and kit supplier have both changed this summer that was not possible for the coming season."

"We are not suggesting that the third kit is a must-have for all supporters but we recognise that there are some fans that may like to own the limited edition kit and have therefore ordered a number of the all blue shirts."

The shirts will be on sale from Thursday 2nd August."

Sunderland's new home kit launches in official club stores at the Stadium of Light, Sainsbury's (The Galleries,Washington) and Debenhams (Sunderland) on Thursday July 26th.
Doors open for sales at 10am and supporters attending the launch will get the opportunity to watch Roy Keane put the first team through their paces in a open training session at the Stadium of
Light, starting at 10.30am.
