Puma and the Austrian Football Federation (ÖFB) presented the team’s new home and away kits for the 08/09 season and Euro 2008.
PUMA developed the home shirt together with the ÖFB, putting emphasis on the performance attributes as part of PUMA’s v1.08 collection launching in January. The new shirts are made for those key game-clinching moments when speed and light weight can mean the difference. The new PUMA v1.08 collection features the lightest and newest PUMA technology in its shoes, apparel and equipment.
The collection will be featured not only by SFV players but also national team stars Nicolas Anelka, Gianluigi Buffon, Mario Gomez and Fredrik Ljungberg. The entire v1.08 collection will be launched in January 2008 in stores.

"The shirt is not just comfortable to wear," said Austrian team captain Andreas Ivanschitz about the highlight of the PUMA’s v1.08 collection, the team shirt. "It also features a lot of new technological advancements to give us maximum performance during a game."
PUMA took the v1.06 shirt and evolved its performance features while improving on its aesthetic look. The shirt is made of two highly-breathable mesh fabric layers welded together in stitchless construction to help players physically – and psychologically – by making players and fans feel better about looking better. The inner mesh layer includes small holes and is hydrophilic – thereby absorbing water and wicking away a player’s sweat. The outer layer has larger ventilation holes and is hydrophobic, keeping the player feeling dry and the two layers from sticking together. The unique welded technology means less fabric and no excess for a total weight of just 145 grams (size M). The shirt improves aerodynamics, minimizes weight and maximizes confidence.
With testing done at both Manchester Metropolitan University in England and Dresden’s Technical University in Germany, researchers found that the v1.08 was actually an energy-saving shirt. At a certain wind speed, research showed that air flow actually passed through the mesh holes rather than going around the body, thereby truly getting players to the ball even faster and lowering wind resistance.
The Austria and Switzerland home shirts are available in stores starting mid-November. The Italy home shirt will be launched in mid-January in Zurich together with the other national team home shirts from PUMA-qualified teams into the European Championship.
