Morecambe 2008-2009 Puma football shirts

After several seasons with Umbro the Shrimps have signed a new four-year contract with Puma with the new mopay.co.uk sponsored strips. After the Umbro deal came to an end the Shrimps spoke to several companies with Puma being the "stand out’’ brand.

Club vice-chairman Graham Hodgson said: "We spoke to several high profile companies but were very impressed with Puma on several fronts.

"They are a world renowned brand who offered excellent quality but we were also impressed by their commitment to football. They sponsor the sportswear for the Football League’s Football in the Community schemes up and down the country and it is clear they have a real passion for football.

"We are excited by the partnership which we are sure will be beneficial for both parties and we are sure our fans will love the new strip.’’

As well as providing replica kits Puma will be providing a wide range of leisurewear and sundry items for the Shrimps’ club shop which is also set go online shortly.

Added Mr Hodgson: "We are in the process of opening an online club shop which is something new to us. The supporters have told us that is what they want and we are doing what we can to provide it.’’

The club’s partners are Genesis Group International Ltd, the Exclusive Licensee for Puma for Teamsports in the UK and Ireland.

John Howarth, Sales Director for Genesis stated: ‘We design and manufacture Kit and Trainingwear for Football Clubs like Reading FC, Bristol City FC, Coventry City FC and Plymouth FC. The quality of the kits we produce in addition to the Puma brand instills confidence in our delivery for other clubs too. We’re looking forward to building a long term relationship with the Club.’

Richard Callaway, Head of Sport for Puma UK commented: "This is an exciting opportunity for us and will provide great exposure for Puma in Lancashire. We are delighted to be the Technical Kit sponsor and are looking forward to working with Morecambe FC and its fans. With great kit and excellent service, we’re sure our partnership will be a successful one."

Thanks to Lance
