This is the new Anderlecht 08/09 Centenary home kit made by Adidas. RSC Anderlecht's new home shirt for the season 2008-2009 has been officially unveiled on Thursday 1st May 2008 at 19h08!
The time 19u08 is symbolic, seeing that RSC Anderlecht was founded in the year 1908. The new home outfit has been specially designed on the occasion of RSC Anderlecht's centenary and will be worn by the players for the first time during the top game against Club Bruges next Saturday 3rd May. For that matter, the new home line will be on sale at the RSC Anderlecht fanshop from Saturday 3rd May onwards.
Anderlecht colours are purple and white, and the club's home kit is generally white with purple trim, though they did wear a black and purple home kit in the 2005-06 season. In the beginning, purple was the main colour of the shirts. The motto of Anderlecht (Mens sana in corpore sano) is written on its badge as are the three letters SCA referring to the initial name of the club (Sporting Club Anderlechtois). A crown was added in 1933 following the name change to Royal Sporting Club Anderlechtois.
