New Middlesbrough 2008/2009 home Errea kit launched

Middlesbrough have unveiled their new home kit for 08-09 made by Errea, as chosen by the club's supporters. With a shirt featuring the iconic white chestband, the new strip - both the shorts and socks are red -will go on sale exclusively to Season Card holders from 8am on Thursday May 8, in good time for the summer holidays.

The strip will be worn by the team for the first time in the season's final match, at home to Manchester City on Sunday.

The shirt - featuring an innovative new swoosh to the popular chestband - was chosen by Boro supporters who took part in a fans' poll. All sizes of kit will be available from 8am on Thursday from both MFC Retail stores, at the Riverside Stadium and in Captain Cook Square, Middlesbrough. It will be available only to 2007-08 season card holders on Thursday and Friday when both stores will be open from 8am to 8pm.

The kit will go on general sale from Saturday when both stores will be open from 9am to 6pm. The stadium store will also be open from 10am through to 3pm kick-off on Sunday and will reopen for an hour after the final whistle.

Prices remain the same for a seventh successive year, with adult shirts priced GBP 40 apart from small sizes, which are just GBP 35. Children's sizes are GBP 26 and GBP 30.

Goalkeeper kit in either yellow and black or green and black is also available. The shirt launch will be supported by a marketing campaign featuring Riverside Season Card holders Clive Edge, Gavin McCabe and Sheryl Helm modelling the new shirt alongside their Boro heroes. MFC Marketing Manager Matt Emmerson said: "It was our fans who voted for the new shirt so we wanted to involve them in the marketing campaign. We are reinforcing the fact that the fans are an integral part of the club."

More than 10,000 Boro supporters took part in a Top Idol poll to choose the new-look shirt. Over the course of eight days, fans voted by internet, text and postcards for their favourite from three designs produced by Boro's Italian kit manufacturers Errea. The winning shirt received 42.4% of the votes, with the others receiving 30.5% and 27.1%.

Almost 80% voted to 'Back the Band' in a previous poll of 6,500 fans.

    2/5

I approve the white band back..

But I didn\'t voted thus kit.I\'ve voted the simple regular white band one.

I think the previous circular crest was better than this one

Good to see the return of the white band.

I preferred Shirt B though. I\'m not a big fan of the swirl.

Still it\'s the best Errea kit in a long long while.
