We already showed you the new Portsmouth home shirt made by Canterbury and today Portsmouth announced that they will play in an all-blue home strip next season.
The club revealed that the blue kit, with gold trim, will be worn for one season only to mark the club’s 110th anniversary. Pompey will then revert to their traditional home colours of blue shirts, white shorts and red socks in the 2009/10 campaign. The all-blue strip is already part of Pompey’s history.
Harry Redknapp’s side wore all-blue for their FA Cup final win against Cardiff at Wembley and semi-final triumph over West Brom. Pompey also sported an all-blue home kit in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Blues chief operating officer Bruce Vandenberg said: “We were going to reveal the colour of next season’s strip at an official launch later this summer.
“But because of intense speculation about the colour of the kit, prompted by leaked images on a website , we have decided to confirm the details officially now.
“The all-blue strip will commemorate the 110th anniversary of Portsmouth Football Club.
“When the club reached 100 years, difficult financial circumstances meant it was not possible to mark such a historic date significantly.
“But the huge advances the club has made in the last two-and-half years mean we can now do that for our 110th year.
“The all-blue strip already has fantastic connotations. We won our FA Cup semi-final against West Brom – played on the exact 110th anniversary of the club – wearing all blue.
“And then, back at Wembley, we won the FA Cup final against Cardiff wearing all blue.
“The club understands the importance of colours to fans. That’s why we consulted with supporter groups before the decision to wear all blue for one season was made.
“For the 2009/10 season, we will go back to our traditional home colours of blue shirts, white shorts and red socks.”
The new all-blue strip will go on sale before the start of next season, with a precise date to be announced.
