Between the years 2002–2008, Lyon won the Ligue 1 title seven consecutive years(2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008), a record that no other club in France has matched.
The streak came to an end during the 2008–09 season, in which they finished in 3rd place.
