York City legend Graeme Crawford joined players from the current first team in unveiling a special commemorative shirt at Bootham Crescent.

The shirt, which celebrates the club’s farewell to Bootham Crescent, will be worn by the team in their final competitive home game.

The maroon shirt features the famous white 'Y-Front' design of the mid-Seventies along with the club's original coat of arms and current club crest.

Produced in association with kit suppliers Under Armour and club sponsors Benenden Health, the shirt will go on sale tomorrow morning at the Club Shop.

Priced £29.99, it is available in adult sizes only (S,M,L,XL,XXL).

Former goalkeeper Crawford played in every game during City’s two-season stay in the second tier of English football (1974-76) when the original maroon 'Y-Front' shirts were worn.

Crawford, now 71, said: “Everyone used to like wearing this shirt and I think the design is now synonymous with York City Football Club.

"I went to watch the team playing at Leamington last season and there were City supporters still wearing the 'Y-Front' shirt.

"It was also a lucky shirt back in the Seventies and, hopefully, it will be as lucky again," he added. "The new version puts a modern take on an old design and I really like it."

City have played professional football at Bootham Crescent since 1932 and will be moving to the new Community Stadium at Monks Cross next season.
