Football Shirt Culture

This is the new Club Independiente Santa Fe 80th anniversary shirt.

The Bogotá, Colombia side’s retro-styled Umbro design has a red trunk with a faux-winged contrast collar in white - created through panelling - and white sleeves.

The oversized patch crest pushes the commemorative detail off centre towards the white Umbro logo on the opposite breast, and the date “21[-]12[-]75” appears on the upper back to note the great side of Los Cardenales’ history this style of shirt nods to.

While this shirt won’t be worn in match action, it does have a stitched number 9 on the reverse to add to the historical faithfulness - 9 was worn by the legend, Carlos Alberto Pandolfini.

The fake collar looks shit. Why are Umbro afraid to give it real collars?
