Argentine giants Boca Juniors have launched a Third shirt for 2021-22.

The adidas design features a largely royal blue base with overlapping shapes on the shoulders and rising from the hem in yellows and blues.

This is a colourway of, officially, “Mystery Ink” and “Multicolor”, while the sponsorship branding is in white, along with all the adidas branding, and the crest is in full colour.

The design of the shirt is intended to refer to the colourful artwork of the football mad Caminito area of Buenos Aires’ La Boca neighbourhood - referred to with the “Republica de la Boca” detail on the upper back and the elaborate imaging unique to each number - and the release will be worn with blue shorts and socks.

@Rod Have to agree. Not everyone needs a Yellow kit , but until recently with newer ridiculous rules , Norwich hardly ever changed there kit for matches . Yesterday they played Preston and wore a blue 3rd kit . When did white with blue shorts ever clash with yellow with green shorts ? Also why do so many international teams wear away kits for home games ?

@Tom I understand that is possible ,but I am old enough to remember when teams were not motivated by commercial greed . Teams like Everton and Chelsea for example both had Yellow away kits so they rarely clashed with another team even someone like Sheffield Wed or Huddersfield for example . Also nowadays the fa seem to pick up on everything even the same colour socks or goalkeeper shirts !!! Most people are either at the game or have this amazing invention a COLOUR TV lol

@Rod That's not always true. If your home (primary) kit is blue, and your road (secondary) kit is white, and you play on the road against a club that wears blue and white stripes your two kits don't work and you need a 3rd. But if you have a 3rd it should at least be a different colour from your other two kits!

@Ruud Mullet Unfortunately 3rd kits tend to created mainly for commercial profit . May as well call it leisure wear . Why do teams need 3rd and even 4th kits ? . All you should need is an away kit that is an opposite to your home kit ,as in days gone by . When growing up teams seemed to make do with 2 kits . Having said all that I like the shirt , it's a nice leisure shirt .

@Dave I like it. You don't have to buy these shirts but I assume most of us are on a page like this because we enjoy shirt design. This one is decent, and different without being ridiculously "try hard". That's the one issue I have with the multiple kits each team release each and every year....at this point the common gripe is everything is too "cookie cutter" (one design, diff colourways for each club) or too much (look at Man United Zebra this year). Rarely does that kind of outside of the box design work. One notable example is Man City's Paisley third this year which I quite like.
