Mexican giants Club América have released their new, 2020-21, Away kit by Nike.
The design, which nods to versions from the past - the 1980s and early 1990s in particular, when “Los Cremas” became the “Águilas del América” - features a white yoke dropping to a point on the lower part of the shirt, on a navy base. The central section is flanked by tricolour flag-style details in blue, red and yellow and the whole effect is replicated on the reverse.
The sides of the torso feature a strip of trim in the lighter blue, but not in the kinked - or “lightning bolt” effect - we have seen on other Nike 2020 designs. However, when Mexican football resumes, América’s shirts will include all the latest Nike NextGen VaporKnit technology - claimed to offer optimum sweat-wicking, breathability and movement - and the players will carry the sponsorship logos of AT&T, The Home Depot, Total, Caliente and, perhaps ironically, beer brand Corona.
The shorts are navy and the socks navy and white, and these are produced from recycled polyester.
