A snoozing Manchester United fan had £2,000 worth of football memorabilia stolen from his home after going to bed for an afternoon nap. The man had gone to sleep upstairs at his home on High Street, Accrington, at 2.30pm on Sunday.
When he awoke an hour later and went into his living room he found that two large frames containing signed United shirts had been stolen from his walls.
The shirts, valued at £1,000 each, were in silver coloured frames. One contained a 1993 home strip signed by Eric Cantona, and a certificate of authenticity.
The second shirt, signed by Gary Neville and also accompanied by a certificate, was from the 2004 season.
Police believe the thief entered through the front door, which had been left unlocked, before making off with the shirts and a SatNav system.

Football Shirts Stolen,
Bedworth Saturday 17 June 2006
Thieves have stolen two football shirts from the washing line at a house in Keenan Drive, Bedworth in the early hours of Saturday 17 June.
One of the shirts stolen is a yellow short sleeved Arsenal goalkeeper training shirt, which has a black 21 on the front and rear. This shirt was given to the owner by Arsenal reserve goalkeeper Mark Poon and is of great sentimental value.
The second football shirt taken was also coloured yellow and is a replica Brazillian shirt.
It is believed the shirts were stolen at about 3am when the householder heard a noise in the garden and looked out to see two youths with torches in the garden shed. Nothing was taken from the shed, but it was later discovered that the football shirts had been taken.
