Wilson's Auctions have been honoured by the Executors of Dickie Best’s Estate to sell by Public Auction a Collection of George Best Memorabilia on their behalf.

Featuring 110 individual lots including match worn international jerseys, framed prints, programmes, many George Best signed items, personalised crystal and silverware.

Mementoes from the career of George Best, the legendary Manchester United and Northern Ireland player, were kept by his father Dickie and will go under the hammer on Thursday.

Items included in the auction range from 1960s shirts from international matches against England to a 1964 Manchester United Christmas card, all collected by Dickie, who died aged 88 last year.

Auctioneer Richard Bell called the auction a once in a lifetime opportunity for George Best fans.

"George had an incredibly strong relationship with his father and always remained proud of his Northern Irish roots," he stated.

Wilson's Auctions in Mallusk near Belfast is staging the event and people from all over the world are expected to fly in to the city to grab a piece of football history.

Back in dem days when shirts were just shirts and nought added to them. micheal parkinson would be in his element! It is wierd to think that rumour mill has suggested that Man U will be going for the neck choker look for the away kit.<br />It just looks so uncomfortable and not exactly \'hip\' for a club that obviously sees\' itself that way( stripe down the back , different neck to everyone else etc).

Good but the design is lazy having the front exactly the same as the back.
