Following advice from the Gambling Commission, Cardiff City removed the logo and wore plain away shirts at Reading.

The club recently secured a deal with 777ball and carried the name on the team's home shirt for the first time against Newcastle on Sunday.

City were told 777ball needed to obtain a licence to advertise in Europe.

A Cardiff City spokesperson said there were no problems with the £250,000 sponsorship deal itself and the logo would be back on the team shirts as soon as possible.

The club said in a statement on its website that it went ahead with the sponsorship "in good faith after discussions with the Football League".

"The Gambling Commission will meet with representatives of 777ball next week and we are grateful to the commission for their efforts to help resolve the matter," the statement said.

"In the meantime, 777ball have expressed their determination to act correctly over the sponsorship and will be applying for the appropriate licence."

The club said 777ball currently held a licence in the Philippines, where it is based.

A spokesperson said it was unlikely the issue would be resolved in time for the logo to reappear on team shirts for the Championship match against QPR on Saturday.

Yup, this is excellant. A very clean kit. I really like the round neck and the descreet use of lines on the shirt, shorts and socks. Classy as always Steevo.

It seems to me that all gamblimg company logos suck. A football shirt is no place for such ugliness.

Look at how much better and cleaner that shirt looked. I wish fans could buy shirts which don\'t carry these crass commercial pitches blared across the shirt. I would rather see myself NOT as a walking billboard for some lame company...

Fans aren\'t paid to advertise for a company. Fans advertise for their club. End of story.
