adidas-chelseaChelsea Football Club announced an extension of our global partnership with adidas that will see the sports brand continue to be an official sponsor and sportswear supplier for the club over the next eight years.

The relationship was launched in 2006 when both parties created the world's largest team photo as 8,000 Chelsea fans lined up alongside the first team squad.

Chelsea and adidas have since undertaken a number of successful grassroots projects. This has included partnering with America's top youth football clubs to help develop US soccer, and the launch of 'Blue Pitches' aimed at encouraging young kids to participate in sport across London with plans to roll them out internationally after the launch of a Blue Pitch in Hong Kong last year.

Ron Gourlay, Chelsea FC's chief executive, said: 'We are delighted to extend our partnership until 2018 after a highly successful first four years. Both organisations are highly ambitious and want to continue in partnership to develop globally and for us, grow in our key market territories across Asia and North America.

'The increased value of the deal reaffirms adidas' belief in the club's growing status in world football.'

Herbert Hainer, chief executive officer of adidas AG added: 'Both adidas and Chelsea have a long and proud heritage in football and we're delighted to continue our working relationship with one of Europe's elite football clubs. We look forward to many more years of success, working closely with the club on product, marketing and grass roots initiatives in the UK and around the globe.'

The extension will include additional rights and opportunities that will ensure the two organisations will continue to mutually benefit and build on their existing success as marketing partners.

well if its going to be another 8 years then adidas have got to improve on their most recent efforts, especially the terrible away shirts we've had for the past couple of years.

Great news for the blues, adidas is the best matter how ugly are the away shirts, the home is allways great and i can tell you one thing....i'm from argentina and the develope of the CHELSEA BRAND is incredible all over the world.....but you can't imagine how guilty is adidas in this matter, all the kids are crazy for the chelsea stuff at the level of Manchester United, Barcelona Madrid...even more than the other big teams like ARSENAL, BAYERN or LIVERPOOL...all because of adidas....and Drogba of course...

Love them or hate them, adidas are a major player around the world and Chelsea's continued association with them can only be good for the club.<br /><br />Maybe there should have been a clause in the contract that the away and 3rd shirts are worn in a minimum number of away games. Given the fact the club are now changing all 3 shirts every season and fans are being asked to fork out 50 quid a time (including printing) for the club's latest shirts, seems only fair that the club actually wear them in competitve games! Off the top of my head, last season's white and navy 3rd shirt (which I love) was worn just 4 times (Inter, Everton, Birmingham & Portsmouth).... so far, The new lime green shirt has not seen the light of day. <br /><br />Not so long ago, a team wearing blue playing at the likes of Villa & West Ham was deemed a colour clash. In the past we have regularly worn our away kits at Villa and West Ham, so why not this season?....

Bullshiz, screw adidas all of them are snot nosed kits. 3 nasty lines with the ugliest templates in the world with very little innovation. get with Nike.
