Earlier this month, Flybe announced that it will end its shirt sponsorship deal with Southampton at the end of the season, and today, Flybe, the UK's number one domestic airline, and Inverness Caledonian Thistle Football Cub jointly announce that, after three years, Flybe will relinquish the main club sponsorship at the end of this season, 2009-2010.
Flybe's Director of Marketing, Simon Lilley says:
"The sponsorship deal between Flybe and Caley Thistle has been great for both Flybe and the Club. The three years have seen Caley Thistle experience the highs and lows and it has been a real honour to have been the club sponsor during this time. We are parting on very amicable terms and have every faith that the team will be soon be back in the SPL where they belong."
Mr. Lilley continued: "Flybe fully intend to continue supporting the Club and we are discussing exciting new Community initiatives with the Club. We are working closely with them to help find a new sponsor. Inverness Caledonian Thistle fans have treated Flybe brilliantly over the past three years and we wish them and the club every success in the future. We remain committed to Inverness Caledonian Thistle and the region and we hope that our wish to remain involved with the Club is a clear indication of this."
During its tenure, Flybe has made a significant investment in the local community.
Flybe provided children from the Raighmore Hospital on special one-off Santa flights for which Inverness Caledonian Football Club players and management played on-board starring roles. Flybe also worked closely with the community through the annual Flybe Community Cup that encouraged grassroots football throughout the Highlands.
George Fraser, Chairman of Inverness Caledonian Thistle said "It has been a real pleasure to work with Flybe and we are particularly proud of the community programmes we have developed together in partnership with them over the last three years. We are grateful for Flybe's commitment and encouragement over the entire term of the Main Club sponsorship and the fact that they are continuing the relationship in the future. We wish Flybe, which is a real asset to region, every success for the future".
