hibernian pumaHibernian FC announced a three year deal with PUMA that sees the leading sportslifestyle brand become the official kit supplier and the official licensee of replica merchandise for Hibernian FC.

The contract means PUMA will replace Le Coq Sportif as Technical Sponsor of the club, supplying Hibernian with their Pro and Replica Kit and Trainingwear for the next three seasons, 2010/11 to 2013/14. The new contract begins in early May with the away kit for 2010/11 launch scheduled before the end of the current season.

The relationship between brand and Club will be managed and delivered by GenisisSports, who are PUMA's Licensee for PRO Teamsports for the UK & Ireland.

Fife Hyland, Commercial & Communications Director Hibernian FC said: "Everyone at the Club is very excited about securing such a high profile and respected Technical Sponsor. Puma is one of the world's biggest football and sporting brands and the quality of the kit and trainingwear is second to none. The players have been very impressed with the new gear and I am sure the new kits and merchandise will be well received by the supporters. Although new to the PUMA brand, Hibernian already has an excellent working relationship with Genesis from which we will develop exciting ranges and kit over the next three years.

"The Club worked very closely with PUMA on the designs for 10/11, and we believe we have produced a unique mix of the traditional and dynamic across the home and away kits for next season. We will launch the Hibernian FC PUMA 10/11 Away Kit before the end of this season and the new Home Kit in June."

Roger Harrison, PUMA UK Marketing Director comments: "We are really pleased to be working with one of Scotland's most famous clubs and its fans. The rich history of Hibernian FC was very appealing to us as a brand that is proud to shout about its heritage. We are confident that through this partnership we will not only increase exposure of PUMA in Scotland but also deliver a strong service to the club, team and Hibernian supporters."

Russell Thomas, Head of Sports Sponsorship, Genesis Sports commented: "We're excited to announce the new agreement with Hibernian FC and we look forward to building on the long standing relationship GenesisSports has enjoyed with Club with the supply of own label leisurewear ranges."

I think Le Coq Sportif has produced some brilliant kits over the years, but the time is just now right for someone new.

I'll be looking forward in seeing what Puma/Genesis comes up with for next season, as one of the great things about Le Coq was that they didn't stick to one template for all their teams, how will Puma do?

GGTTH

I love Le Coq Sportif because they are different and unique, I think it is a mistake that Hibs have teamed up with Puma because Puma will treat Hibs as they would any team (aside from the major clubs) and just give them a template for what ever Puma comes up with for next year. I'm sure Hibs will get more money out of the deal but Le Coq is the better choice!
