Wolverhampton Wanderers have signed a three-year, lucrative deal with BURRDA to supply home and away kits every season, plus an exclusive range of Wolves-branded training wear, which will be worn by the first team squad and academy teams. It is the biggest ever kit deal in Wolves' 133-year history.
The contract with Wolves is BURRDA's first UK football deal but it already boasts an impressive portfolio of international sports clubs. In the Middle East it currently provides kits for the Kuwait and Qatar national teams.
Today's announcement marks the end of a 12-month selection process conducted by the Club, which involved assessing a range of kit manufacturers based on the quality, designs and commercial competitiveness of their sports products. The chosen design has been based on supporter feedback received during the course of the season.
The home kit will be unveiled for the first time on Sunday May 9th 2010 at the sell-out home clash against Sunderland, with the first team taking to the field for the first time in the new strip.
Supporters will be able to pre-order the home kit after the Sunderland game from the Molineux and Dudley Street Retail Stores and online after 6:00pm on the same day. It will go on sale on Friday 18th June 2010.
Adult short sleeve shirts are £40; Junior shirts are £30 with Ladies shirts and infant kits priced at £35 and £30 respectively.
The away kit will be revealed at Wolves' End of Season dinner (Sold-Out) on 4th May 2010 at The Telford International Centre.
Jez Moxey, Wolves' Chief Executive, said: "We'd like to thank Le Coq Sportif, who've been fantastic partners of the club over the last six years. Today's announcement represents the end of a thorough process to secure a new kit manufacturer that combines quality products for our fans with the best possible commercial deal for the football club.
"BURRDA are currently new to football in this country but they have a strong international track record across a number of different sports, with plans to further extend their brand into the UK. We've listened to fans' ideas on designs throughout the year and, together with BURRDA, we've come up with simple, retro style designs, using state-of-the-art technical material.
"I'm delighted to say that we've been able to freeze next season's kit prices for the tenth year running. We hope our fans will be happy with both the look, and the quality, of the final product.
"The type and size of this deal reflects the global reach of the Premier League. BURRDA are a very good fit for our football club, who can also hopefully extend our contacts across Continental Europe and the Middle East. We look forward to enjoying a strong working relationship with BURRDA over the next three years."
BURRDA's General Manager, Charles Diab, added: "We've always planned to enter the UK football market and when the chance came with a club steeped in history as Wolves is, we knew the fit was right. They share our passion to work hard and succeed. We congratulate Mick McCarthy and the team on their success this season and feel confident the timing coincides with the club enjoying an extended stay in the Premier League. Next season will be another big year for the team especially given the number of Midlands derbies we all have to look forward to.
"When putting a team kit collection together we always look at the history and ensure we combine interesting designs with high technology materials to create sporting wear that looks and feels great as well as helping athletes perform to their maximum. These kits are no different and we're excited about seeing them on display in Molineux very soon."
BURRDA are committed to supplying products of the highest quality and use the latest fabric technology in all their range of products. The home and away kits feature 'Cool Dry' unique fabric technology that allows the absorption and transfusion of body moisture into the fabrics, whilst allowing air to circulate around the body providing comfort and durability.
