FIFA and adidas have presented the TRIONDA, the Official Match Ball for the FIFA World Cup 26. The tournament will be the first to be hosted across three countries, and the name of the ball reflects this milestone, translating from Spanish as “three waves”.
The adidas ball is designed in red, green and blue, referencing Canada, Mexico and the United States. Each host nation is also represented through symbolic details, with a maple leaf for Canada, an eagle for Mexico and a star for the United States. Gold accents complete the design with a reference to the FIFA World Cup Trophy.
TRIONDA introduces a new four-panel construction shaped to replicate wave-like forms. The panels connect in a triangular formation at the centre, echoing the unity of the three host nations. The surface includes intentionally deep seams, engineered to enhance stability in flight by regulating airflow around the ball.
Embossed detailing across the surface provides additional grip, particularly beneficial in challenging weather conditions. Close-up, these details reveal intricate iconography alongside textured star patterns integrated into the design. The ball also features adidas connected ball technology. A 500Hz motion sensor chip is embedded inside, allowing real-time tracking of the ball’s movement during matches. This data is transmitted to the video assistant referee system, aiding officials with key decisions, including offside calls.
