What links Italian giants Juventus with Conference South side Weymouth? The clue is in the colours! 'La Vecchia Signora' began their history wearing pink shirts, and now The Terras have released their own tribute to fuchsia. Here's the story...
Pink and football don't generally mix. Red maybe, but certainly not pink?! However, Weymouth are bucking that trend with their new third kit.
So why pink I hear you ask - well it started as something of a joke between Chairman Martyn Harrison and his daughter, who modelled the kit for the club's open day in order to try and fool fans into thinking that this was their new strip...
In the event, the chairman was so impressed with how the kit looked that he decided to release it.
The club also decided to donate a portion of the money raised from each shirt sale to the Breast Cancer Appeal fund. Quite apt given the colour! £2 from each shirt is given to the fund, and the club have sold well in excess of fifty replicas.
Crushed raspberry
In order not to embarrass the players, or indeed any male who might be tempted to wear the shirt, it has been tagged as 'crushed raspberry' - but try telling that to opposing fans!
Thus far, the kit seems to have been well received by both sexes, with numerous chaps in attendance at Terras' games spotted in 'rose-tinged' tops.Match-tested.
The players have actually played in the shirt - donning the kit away at Maidenhead. Did it work? Well the Terras continued their unbeaten run but failed to earn three points.
Unfortunately, Forest's red kit meant that The Terras couldn't wear the shirts at the City Ground, but it didn't stop the fans who dotted a touch of colour to proceedings.
What with Chelsea players waxing their chests and all that, what harm's a little bit of pink going to do? Besides, the lads will never have problems spotting each other on the pitch!
So whether you're soaking up some top class Serie A footy with Juventus, or sunning yourself in the Conference South with Weymouth - you can look 'pretty in pink' with pride!

Rovers' Gay trip pink ban
BRISTOL ROVERS will ditch their pink kit for today’s trip to Shrewsbury’s GAY Meadow.
The Pirates feared their players would be verbally abused by home fans during the League Two clash.
Rovers have been given the all-clear to wear their yellow away shirts — despite worries over a clash of colours with the Shrews’ blue and amber strip.
Fans’ director Kim Stuckey said: "We already had indications of what might happen if we were to wear the pink shirts at Gay Meadow. It would probably not produce the publicity we want."
Rovers’ pink shirts were only put on sale because of an April Fool’s Day joke that backfired — but then paid off.
Rovers advertised the strip on their website for a laugh, thinking fans would be up in arms at the choice of third kit.
But punters placed so many orders that manufacturers Errea produced the shirts for real. The Pirates gave a percentage of the profits from sales to help fund the fight against breast cancer.
Stuckey added: "We are hoping to do something more for the charity. We presented a cheque for £5,000 but hopefully we could organise something to raise more money for a very worthy cause."
Sheffield United scrapped a similar pink away strip in 2000 after players said they felt uncomfortable wearing it.
