Design Middlesbrough Futsal Club’s 2009-2011 home kit

Middlesbrough Futsal Club have teamed up with Sala Sports and DesignFootball.com to bring you a fantastic competition to design Boro’s new home kit as they aim for a place in the UEFA Futsal Cup.

Middlesbrough are one of England’s leading futsal clubs and currently sit at the top of the national league North. They will contest the English title in October against the best teams from the Midlands and South and your design could inspire them to greater things! As well as on the court, they are leading the way in futsal off the pitch, already becoming a recognised brand all over the world, with fans in South America, Asia and Europe.

Sala Sports supply Middlesbrough with their kit from Italian brand Erreà. Fabrizio Taddei of Erreà, a representative of Designfootball.com and the Boro committee will judge the competition and the winner will receive a kit for their team courtesy of Sala Sports. Middlesbrough Futsal Club will also give away a family season ticket for 2010 and the winning design will be presented to you at the first home game at Thornaby Pavilion.

Boro play in navy blue with red trim, colours chosen because of the lion in the town’s civic crest, and designers should stick to a predominantly blue kit.   Football in Middlesbrough has a steep history and with futsal being relatively new to the town, there is nothing wrong with delving into the history of Middlesbrough FC for inspiration as well.

Chairman and Manager of Middlesbrough Damon Shaw explains his motives for the competition, “We had an excellent response to the vote for the pink away kit, and now we’re giving fans and budding designers the chance to contribute in a bigger way to the club by designing our home kit which will be used until the end of season 2011, hopefully including a UEFA Cup campaign!”

“That in itself is a fantastic prize, but Sala Sports will also reward the winner with a kit for his or her team, be it school, college, pub, club or university! In choosing the designs we’ve had previously, the football club and the town’s heritage have been an inspiration. We’re looking for style, uniqueness and identity, but the canvas is blank and as you know we are not afraid to be different!”

The competition closes on Wednesday 21st October, giving you plenty of time to sharpen your pencils and come up with some ideas. Entry forms can be downloaded from borofutsal.com or here, or you can email a design to This email address is being protected from spambots. Good luck!

Nice, did you make the design yourself? I don't recognise it.

No, it was an asics template I got off one of the links on the design tutorial for dummies. Kallenovskys asics template. I was looking a while back at the favourite shirts of one of the members of FSC, and he mentioned this team, Looked at the history, and was impressed and wanted to do a shirt. this is the result. Love the team name - "western railroad" , cannot deny they know how to name teams in south america

it was axeldeviaje, by the way, the shirt from 1986. The green on that shirt was a lot darker than the shade on this one though.
