Newcastle United Unveil Shirts Which Allow Deaf Fans To Feel Stadium Atmosphere

The shirts Newcastle United wear in their Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur will carry the branding of the charity RNID (Royal National Institute for Deaf People) instead of the usual “Sela” in the central sponsor position.

In addition to this, the version of the 2023-24-season shirt many fans will wear will be “haptic”, meaning they technologically transform crowd noise into vibrations so the wearer can be part of the atmosphere without necessarily needing to hear the sounds around them.

This technology, being credited to Sela, is being marketed as something hoped will be adopted by other teams.
