The Nike release for the Dutch Eredivisie club features a red trunk with Alkmaar imagery, white sleeves and a white neck.

The shirt, with its full-colour crest and white wordmark in the central sponsor position, forms a kit with white shorts and socks.

It's cheese. It's clogs. It's tulips. It's windmills. It's collar is saying " I don't know where I've been but I know where I'm going". Subtle nods to a bohemian existence and camping under the stars. The badge is cruel in its defiance but has an almost childlike innocence when confronted. Is it a football shirt or is that like saying Rembrandt was good at painting? Is it a fashion statement for the masses or is it the roar of self-motivated indiscretion. Only the wearer will know.
