Paying homage to the style worn by the Wanderers’ team of 1923 – who beat West Ham United 2-0 in the first FA Cup final to be played at Wembley Stadium – the shirt does not feature a front of shirt sponsor. Bolton Wanderers would like to thank principal shirt sponsor Service My Car for their support and generosity in making this possible.
Further referencing the garment worn on the day of the final, the shirt features an embroidered version of the red club crest of the day and a polo neck with laces. Each shirt has its own serial number, detailed in a custom label at the bottom and comes in a special commemorative box.
The 1923 FA Cup final was played on 28th April and saw Bolton Wanderers take on the then Second Division West Ham in front of a staggering crowd of over 126,000 supporters.
Though this was the official attendance, it is estimated over 200,000 people were actually present on the day.
The game would become known as the ‘White Horse Final’ with swelling crowds pushed back behind the touchline by a white police horse named Billy.
Goals from David Jack and John Smith brought the FA Cup back to Bolton for the very first time.
