RCD Espanyol have unveiled a special 125th anniversary shirt, celebrating the club’s origins and its foundation in 1900.
The Kelme design revisits the earliest colours in Espanyol’s history, yellow and black, first worn by the “Sociedad Española de Foot-ball,” the name used when the club was formed. According to founder Ángel Rodríguez, one of the members supplied yellow fabric from his textile business, giving rise to the first team kit. Contemporary reports from La Veu de Catalunya described it as “yellow and black, complete with a beret.”
The 2025 commemorative jersey pays homage to that moment with a yellow base and black trim on the collar and sleeve cuffs. The club crest is displayed in black on the chest alongside the Kelme logo, while a 125th anniversary badge appears on the upper back.
The shirt’s fabric features an debossed pattern incorporating the four-leaf clover motif, a symbol of the Art Nouveau style seen in the 1900 founding article published in Los Deportes. The same article is reproduced subtly within the texture of the shirt. Completing the kit are black shorts and yellow socks, forming a modern nod to Espanyol’s earliest identity and the pioneering spirit that shaped the club’s beginnings in Barcelona.
