Genoa CFC have unveiled the club’s new 2025/26 away kit, featuring a red St George’s Cross on a white base. The cross, a historic symbol of the city of Genoa, also appears in the club crest alongside the griffin.
The Kappa shirt includes gold detailing on the cuffs, collar and Kappa logos, with a gold griffin crest on the chest. A sponsor logo appears across the horizontal arm of the cross, and subtle gold piping runs along the sides.
The shirt is constructed using Kappa’s Kombat Pro fabric and is paired with matching white shorts and socks to form a full kit.
The St George’s Cross dates back to the Middle Ages, when it was flown by Genoese ships for protection. According to tradition, England later received permission to adopt the cross in return for a tribute, allowing English vessels to sail under its emblem. The symbol is displayed again below the collar on the back of the shirt, reinforcing its connection to the city.
This release also highlights the Anglo-Genoese roots of Genoa CFC, Italy’s oldest football club, founded in 1893 by English residents as the Genoa Cricket and Athletic Club. The launch campaign includes scenes filmed in Stoke Newington, London, birthplace of club founder James Richardson Spensley, who was instrumental in the early development of football in Italy.
