Newport County AFC have released a special Moreton in Marsh shirt, produced by VX3 as a limited edition collector's item tied to a specific period in the club’s modern history.
The shirt references the period following Newport County’s reformation in 1989, when the club was forced to play home matches away from Newport. During the 1989 to 1990 season, Newport A.F.C. played at London Road in Moreton in Marsh, Gloucestershire, after being denied use of Somerton Park. This period led to the adoption of the nickname The Exiles, which remains closely associated with the club.
The Newport County jersey comes in an amber base with black detailing and long sleeves. A tonal geometric pattern is woven into the fabric and continues across the front and reverse. A V-neck collar is used, finished with ribbed trim incorporating black and amber striping, which is mirrored on the sleeve cuffs. The Newport County crest is applied to the chest, with the VX3 logo positioned opposite.
On the upper back of the shirt, beneath the collar, the inscription reads “1989 Football With A Future 2026”. This references both the year of the club’s reformation and the continuation of that legacy into the present. An additional woven label near the hem confirms the shirt’s limited nature, with only 400 individually numbered pieces produced. Each shirt is supplied in a presentation box.
