Oakland Roots SC have introduced their new 2025 Third Kit, produced by Charly and designed with Oakland-based artist Muzae Sesay. The shirt was unveiled at SFMOMA, reflecting Sesay’s background at the museum and his ongoing ties to the Bay Area’s creative community.
The design is based on Sesay’s work "The Sun Has Reached The Same Point As The Moon Above The Ocean", with bold chevron graphics in deep, multicoloured tones printed across a dark base. The artwork is sublimated into the fabric and carries through to an inner collar message that reads “It’s in the water,” underlining the kit’s connection to local identity. The shirt also features a woven Oakland Roots crest, an embroidered Charly logo, and is constructed from lightweight performance material with mesh panelling to ensure comfort and breathability on the pitch.
Premier partners are carried over from the season’s other kits, with Anthem Blue Cross taking the front, Ava Community Energy on the lower back, ThredUp across the upper back, and Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport represented on the sleeve. The kit will be completed with matching shorts and socks will make its debut in October when Oakland Roots face Hartford Athletic at the Oakland Coliseum.
Supporters purchasing the shirt will also find a digital element integrated into the release. A QR code printed inside the jersey links to a Muzae Digital Collectible available throughout October, while a special limited edition was released at SFMOMA and during the Coliseum matchday event.
