PEC Zwolle have revealed a special limited edition football shirt to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Zwolle, which took place on 14 April 1945.
The club traditionally honours this occasion with the Leo Major Bevrijdingswedstrijd (Liberation match), named after the Canadian soldier credited with freeing the city. The 2025 shirt features colours inspired by the Distinguished Conduct Medal awarded to Leo Major.
The design includes dark red and navy vertical stripes, white shoulder stripes, and a rounded V-neck collar. The Zwolle city crest is embroidered on the chest, highlighting the bond between club and city. A commemorative patch appears near the hem, with the date “14 April 1945” and the phrase “Bevrijding Zwolle” (Liberation of Zwolle), alongside a red maple leaf referencing Canada.
