Club Atlético Peñarol, of Montevideo, have unveiled their “133 aniversario” (“133rd anniversary”) football shirt.
The latest Puma new release for 2024 boasts the Uruguayan Primera División giants’ famous yellow and black stripes, on this occasion with throwback stylings - including an intriguing collar effect featuring superfluous buttons - and this is to honour the 75th anniversary of Peñarol’s “Clásico de la fuga” (“Escape Derby”), win, when archrivals Nacional did not return for the second half of a game in which they found themselves 2-0 down in at the break.
Partner logos are sublimated in white, the “Máquina de 49” (“Machine of ’49”) nickname appears on the upper back - stylised as “LA M49UINA” - on the right sleeve there is an image nodding to the Peñarol players and the officials waiting for the Nacional players to start the second 45, the crest is in standard colouring and the shirt can be combined with complementing shorts and socks to form a kit.
