Puma and the Portuguese Football Federation have presented a special edition Portugal jersey honouring Eusébio, known worldwide as Pantera Negra, on the 60th anniversary of his 1965 Ballon d’Or win. The release pays tribute to one of football’s most iconic forwards and his lasting influence on the sport and Portuguese culture.
The Puma shirt is produced in a black base with gold detailing and includes PUMA’s DRYCELL performance technology. Both the PUMA Cat logo and the national crest are rendered in metallic gold, while the collar and sleeve cuffs carry red and green woven trim referencing the national flag. Inside the neckline, the words Pantera Negra are printed, a nod to Eusébio’s legendary nickname.
Each Authentic version of the shirt is individually numbered and limited to 1,965 units, commemorating the year of Eusébio’s Ballon d’Or triumph. The front and back both feature his famous number 13, with a woven label on the hem reading “Special Edition 0010/1965”. The shirt is presented in a premium collector’s box that includes a booklet telling Eusébio’s story and his long association with PUMA.
The Portugal men’s national team will wear the special edition kit once, on 16 November in Porto against Armenia, as part of the official tribute to Eusébio’s legacy.
