FC Schalke 04 have released a special edition jersey with adidas to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the city of Gelsenkirchen.
The Schalke football shirt adopts the city colours and carries references to Gelsenkirchen’s identity. The long-sleeved design features a green base with a repeating pattern inspired by local landmarks and symbols. Black and white sleeve bands represent the colours of the city flag, while a red founding seal is printed at the back of the neck. On the chest, the adidas logo is positioned above three silicone crest applications: the Schalke 04 badge and two heraldic shields linked to Gelsenkirchen.
Each shirt can be customised with one of eighteen district badges. These appear on the sleeve and combine a city outline, street map detailing, district name and a highlighted district silhouette, creating a set of location-based identifiers for supporters.
The jersey is produced in collaboration with 11teamsports, with part of the revenue going to community-focused organisations within the city. The shirt is sold in limited quantities through the official Schalke shop and arrives in a dedicated presentation box. It will be worn during the home fixture against 1. FC Nürnberg, after which the match worn shirts will be auctioned in support of Schalke hilft!.
