These diamonds draw inspiration from the doors of the Wigan Casino, where the inaugural Northern Soul "All Nighters" took place in September 1973, thanks to the vision of local DJ Russ Winstanley. It swiftly earned its reputation as the nation's premier hub for Northern Soul music, attracting music enthusiasts, dancers, and celebrities from all corners.
The football club has always been deeply influenced by the legacy of the Wigan Casino. Northern Soul music is a sacred prelude to matches and a halftime tradition at the DW Stadium, connecting the club to this iconic piece of musical history.
