AFC Ajax have released a limited-edition retro shirt celebrating club icon Sjaak Swart, the record appearance holder who has carried the title "Mister Ajax" for more than half a century.
Produced in collaboration with Swart himself, the special release pays tribute to a player whose appearance record remains one of the most enduring achievements in Ajax history.
The shirt is limited to 888 individually numbered pieces, with each example presented in a collector's box and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by Sjaak Swart.
The design recreates the minimalist appearance associated with Ajax teams of Swart's era. The long-sleeved shirt is predominantly white, featuring a bold red AJAX wordmark across the chest without additional sponsor branding or modern embellishments. The reverse carries Swart's iconic number 8 in red, matching the typography used on the front.
Inside the collar, a commemorative woven label combines the Ajax emblem with the number 8, while a red numbered tag identifies each shirt within the limited production run. The presentation box includes historical imagery of Swart wearing the original Ajax shirt.
