Brentford, in partnership with Bees United, the supporters' trust, has unveiled the 1889 heritage shirt to mark the year the club was established. This special edition shirt is a tribute to Brentford's first-ever kit.
The design was inspired by the original decisions of the Brentford FC founders, who were also members of the Brentford Rowing Club, deciding that the football club would wear claret and blue, mirroring the rowing club's colours.
Historical team photographs reveal a club crest inspired by the Brentford Rowing Club, symbolising the club's origins and its connection to the River Thames through a blue zigzag line on a claret background, alongside the BFC initials.
