Portsmouth FC have revisited a classic era with the reissue of the Pompey 1985–87 Umbro home shirt, closing the club’s Retro Kit Vault for 2025. The design marks the final release in the celebrated anchor crest collection, developed in collaboration with Just Sport and the Portsmouth History Society.
Originally worn by players including Paul Hardyman, Kevin Ball, and Mick Tait, the shirt recalls a key moment in Pompey’s history. Under Alan Ball’s management, Portsmouth secured promotion to the top flight during the 1986/87 campaign after finishing fourth in Division Two the season before.
The recreated Umbro jersey features a deep royal blue base with tonal vertical stripes formed through a woven jacquard pattern incorporating repeating “P.F.C.” and Umbro logos. It includes a ribbed V-neck collar and sleeve cuffs trimmed in white and red, staying true to the original detailing. The left chest carries the white embroidered anchor crest, while the Umbro logo appears opposite.
Made from lightweight polyester, the retro shirt mirrors the fit and finish of the original design, offering supporters a faithful tribute to one of Portsmouth’s most memorable kits.
