Patrick and Sunderland AFC have reunited to reissue the away shirt worn between 1986 and 1988, a jersey that marked the start of the Black Cats’ partnership with the Belgian manufacturer following their previous spell with Nike.
The away shirt is sky blue with vertical shiny stripes woven into the fabric. It carries the Tuborg sponsor across the front in white lettering and has the Sunderland crest embroidered in the centre of the chest.
The V-neck collar is trimmed in black, red and white, with matching cuffs on the sleeves. Inside the neckline, the Patrick logo is stitched onto the label. As with the original release, Patrick logos appear across the shoulders, a detail that reflected the brand’s signature style of the era.
The kit was worn across two seasons, first in the Second Division in 1986–87 and then in the Third Division in 1987–88, which Sunderland won to earn promotion back to the Second Division.
