In Alicante, where Puma started in the Volvo Ocean Race Saturday, the necessary signatures were collected.
The contract is signed for next five seasons. Puma replaces Kappa, which in recent years was the shirt manufacturer of Feyenoord. The contract with Kappa stops at the end of this 08/09 season.
In the 1980's Puma was already shirt manufacturer of the Dutch club.
Especially the yellow Puma shirt from the 83-84 season, in which Feyenoord became Dutch Champion, speaks to the imagination of the loyal supporters.
"There will be a reference to that shirt," promised Sander van Gelder, chief executive of Puma Benelux, in the Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad. "But I can not yet say how that will happen."
What amount of money is involved with the deal is not known.
Feyenoord director Eric Gudde expressed his satisfaction: "We are pleased with the return of Puma.''
