LG Electronics, a global leader in consumer electronics and mobile communications, today reveals a three-year main team sponsorship with one of the oldest teams in the Premiership, Fulham Football Club, which will see the familiar LG logo on the Club’s shirts until 2010.
This deal, which goes live on 1st July 2007, is the most significant sponsorship agreement in the Club’s history. For LG the relationship represents a huge opportunity in terms of presence on the shirts and on the televised Premiership games which are viewed by a massive world-wide audience. The relationship will positively increase the profile of the brand and raise awareness of the company’s portfolio of products within the UK – a presence which has already been enhanced by award winning products such as the Shine handset and the Prada phone by LG and LG’s extensive range of Plasma and LCD TVs.

The future 07/08 season Club kit sporting LG’s ‘smiling face’ logo will be launched over the summer and will reflect the Club’s historic past with a modern revision of the home shirt
The domestic partnership between the two brands began during the summer of 2005, featuring LG’s mobile phone and consumer electronics portfolios. And with today’s announcement, it now gives the company significant brand profile at the ground, with LG flat panel TVs to be seen throughout Craven Cottage stadium and LG enjoying major presence on the new LED perimeter boards around the pitch.
At the same time, LG will also start extending its existing partnership with Harrods, with the brand set to move into a new, high profile space within the store. LG’s i-Gallery is predicted to occupy to a larger site, complementing its existing presence in the Sound & Vision area and supporting the recent unveiling of the company’s purpose-built display in the Home Appliances department. Underpinning the brand’s close association with the Club and its Chairman, Mohamed Al Fayed, this relationship reflects LG’s strategy of putting in place brand-oriented relationships, giving the company the high visibility it demands.
Mohamed Al Fayed, Chairman of Fulham Football Club, said:
"LG Electronics is a market leader in the field of electronics and telecommunications and I am delighted it has committed its support to both Fulham and Harrods. Ten years ago I invested in the Club and have seen us rise from the second division to become a firm fixture in the Premiership. Our association with this great company reflects my continued ambition for the Club, and we look forward to a fantastic new season, together taking the Club to even greater heights."
David McNally, Fulham Football Club’s Managing Director, commented:
"This is a fantastic agreement for the Football Club and we are delighted to take our relationship with LG Electronics to another level. Since partnering with the company, we have enjoyed a successful association with LG, a dynamic and innovative brand that I believe shares the Club’s objectives in terms of success. As the biggest deal in the Club’s history, it is clear that we are successfully driving the commercial side of our business and we shall continue to pursue our ambition of becoming a financially stable business in the long term. We welcome LG Electronics as our Main Team sponsor and look forward to working with them."
Brian Na, President of LG Electronics UK, added:
"We are very proud to be embarking upon such an exciting new journey with the Club and Harrods. We are delighted with the deal; the logo on the shirts will look fantastic on the pitch and on screen. It’s a source of pleasure to us to be linked with a Club which reflects our premium aspirations and the highlight of our new partnership will be seeing the Club play next season in our colours and hopefully picking up those all important three points for a win. Dovetailing perfectly with our marketing strategy of focussing on high profile properties, our sponsor status and the sites at Harrods are two jewels to sit alongside our new LED screen in Piccadilly Circus."
