Leicester City looking for Charity Sponsor

Leicester City already announced that they will leave the front of their home shirts blank as part of their 125th anniversary celebrations next 09/10 season, and now Leicester City are planning to carry the name of a regional charity on their 09/10 away kit for next season.

After feedback from supporters, the club are now inviting applications from regional charitable and voluntary organisations wishing to be considered.

The club are now actively looking to introduce an away kit carrying a front-of-shirt charity sponsor.

Club chairman Milan Mandaric said: "Many of our supporters contacted us directly to suggest that they would like their club to work with a regional charity in some way shape or form.

"This is an excellent idea. We are always keen to further develop and strengthen our relationships with the local community.

"In this way the football club can play an active role in raising the awareness of a regionally-based organisation.

"We have decided to partner with a regionally-based organisation because Leicester City draws its support predominantly from the regional area."

The club are requesting applications from interested charities and voluntary organisations.

Principal criteria are that the organisation must be:

- An officially registered charity based in the local region
- Work with disadvantaged families and children
- Willing to create a programme that utilises the power of football to assist and benefit disadvantaged people.

The club are looking for original ideas that will have a positive effect on the community in which they sit.

The organisation's name will be carried on the front of the away shirt in the same way as that of a commercial sponsor.

Interested organisations are asked to forward their applications to supporter relations manager Peter Jones on the official club website.

well, looks like they are copying the villa. They would look better without a sponser like my club West Brom.

A shame they won\'t be able to celebrate this in the Premiership. Perhaps they will celebrate promotion to the Premiership at the end of next season if they continue their fine form in League 1 this season.

I think that this is a fantastic gesture on their part.

It is also a much better move than the b*o*d* awful ideas that were posted on here earlier this week, with things like BLUE ARMY and FOXES FOREVER on the front of the shirt.

    Smart move Leicester.
