The financial terms of the agreement, which runs until May 2019, were not released. However, there is speculation in the UK’s tabloid press that the contract is worth as much as UK£45 million in total.
QPR Chairman, Tony Fernandes, said: “We are delighted to be entering into this new and exciting partnership with Nike and look forward to working alongside their team over the next five years.
“Nike is the leading global sports brand and they are a fantastic brand for us to be associated with.”
QPR CEO, Philip Beard, added: “Nike’s unparalleled research and development capacity, leading global retail distribution networks and award winning marketing capabilities mean that this is a very important step forward in the evolution of the club.
“We are really looking forward to working together.”
Marc Van Pappelendam, GM, Nike UK & Ireland commented: “We’re proud to start working with QPR.
“The club has a great heritage and we’re looking forward to the partnership.”
Following the announcement that Nike will be the new technical partner, the club can confirm that the re-branding of the crest has been put on hold.
QPR Chairman, Tony Fernandes, said: “We are fully committed to our plans for a new crest, but the announcement of our Nike partnership and the lead times it creates makes it sensible to put any changes on hold for the moment.
“When the time is right, fan consultation will - as always - be key, as we look to design a crest that all our supporters can be proud of.”
