Citibank will be the new top sponsors of Werder Bremen. The contract between the world’s largest private bank and the Bundesliga club will run for three years with a one year extension clause included. The national and international deal will come into force as from July 1st 2007.
The deal includes jersey sponsoring, presence in the stadium such as advertising hoardings, presence in the VIP lounges, a ticket allocation as well as the use of players for advertising and promotion.

The new partnership was arbitrated by Werder marketing partner ISPR/SPORTFIVE. "We are happy to have been able to bring two parties together who are equally present in their fields both nationally and internationally", remarked Thomas Schulte, director of sales from SPOTRFIVE.

bwin To Remain Official Bet Partner And Sponsor
- The continuation of both jersey and main sponsorship is no longer possible due to legal restrictions.
- Partner is awaiting the prompt prohibition of monopoly in the German market through the EuGH and the EU Commission.
- The bwin group is relocation sponsoring funds from Germany to other European states.
Bundesliga club Werder Bremen and Germany’s largest sport bookmakers bwin met together on Tuesday and decided unanimously to continue their partnership. Since those in favour of monopoly in the German market are still are still at loggerheads with the European rights on monopoly’s, the decision was made to discontinue the jersey and main sponsorship with bwin in Bremen. Instead a new contract will soon be drawn up with Werder and bwin as a partnership as the official betting partner and sponsor of Werder Bremen. The two parties had a similar status during the 2004/2005 and 2005/2006 seasons.
